You’ll find lots of tourists (and locals) on Aruba's beaches, mostly Palm Beach and secondarily Eagle Beach. For a quieter beach experience, venture out past the airport to the sleepy neighborhood of Pos Chiquito, where Mango Halto Beach is as quiet as it is pretty. Mango Halto is also a great diving spot.
Even farther afield is San Nicolas, the second largest town in Aruba, with its pristine beaches and modest homes. Though it has gradually become an alternative tourist destination, there’s a real feel of local flavor here. A trip to San Nicolas is not complete without a visit to historic Charlie's Bar, whose claim to fame is its veritable museum of various random objects hung on the walls over the years.
