We place our listed hotels into categories tailored to different budgets and travelers.

Super Bare Bones: free-$25 for two

Bare Bones: $26-$50 for two

Affordable Beds: $51-$100 for two

Moderately Priced Beds: $101-$160 for two

In addition, we provide several additional categories to help our users sort through hotel options.

Charming Small Hotels (20 rooms and under).

Local Spirit (hotels owned by locals or long-term residents).

Off-Season Only (hotels, some quite luxurious, with off-season rates under $160).

Value-Priced Resorts (larger properties with double room rates under $160 per night).

We customarily list hotels with double rooms available for $160 and under, and we determine whether or not a hotel has achieved this rate by looking both at published hotel rates and our booking affiliates’ average hotel rates.

Finally, we list a very small number of hotels that exceed this rate ceiling. Those hotels that we deem to be Worth a Splurge will exceed our $160 maximum rate limit, but never by much. We use this category to focus on really fine hotels that offer good value for their level of luxury.
